چکیده

Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with technetium99m-Sestamibi (99mTc-sestamibi) allows early detection and evaluation of disease extension and cardiovascular risk in patients with suspected or established CAD, helping in decision-making regarding the start and type of therapy to be implemented.1 This method has been widely used, but shows difficulties in some situations such as balanced multivessel disease, in which the proportional flow distribution in the myocardial regions can hinder ischemia detection. In such cases, additional assessment data, such as evaluation of contractility, decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) under stress, electrocardiographic alterations or symptoms during stress, dilation of the left ventricle (LV) cavity under stress can provide evidence of ischemia, indicating further diagnostic investigation.

Diagnostic accuracy of rest/stress ECG-gated Rb-82 myocardial perfusion PET: comparison with ECG-gated Tc-99m sestamibi SPECT.

BACKGROUND Although single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) have evolved considerably over the last decade, there is no recent comparison of diagnostic performance. This study was designed to assess relative image quality, interpretive confidence, and diagnostic accuracy by use of contemporary technology and pr...

Utility of 99mTc-Sestamibi SPECT/CT in the Early Localization of Metastatic Parathyroid Carcinoma

Parathyroid carcinoma is very rare, with only a few documented cases. Hence, metastatic lesions are infrequently documented on scintigraphic imaging. We present a case of a 63-year-old female presenting with elevated serum levels of ionized calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) who was referred to our department for a parathyroid scan with SPECT/ CT. Parathyroid scintigraphy showed a focus of i...

Assessment of myocardial perfusion and contractile function by inotropic stress Tc-99m sestamibi SPECT imaging and echocardiography for optimal detection of multivessel coronary artery disease.

OBJECTIVE To assess whether inotropic stress myocardial perfusion imaging, echocardiography, or a combination of the two could enhance the detection of multivessel disease, over and above clinical and exercise electrocardiographic data. DESIGN 100 consecutive patients investigated by exercise electrocardiography and diagnostic coronary arteriography underwent simultaneous inotropic stress Tc-...

Filter selection for 99mTc-Sestamibi myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging [Persian]

Myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging with Tc99m-sestamibi is the most accurate non-invasive means of detecting coronary artery disease and assessing the severity of perfusion abnormalities in the patients with coronary stenosis. Though simple and straight forward the results produced by the technique is very much affected by the details being used. One of the main problems with the test, wh...

The diagnostic difference between 18F- FDG PET and 99mTc-HMPAO SPECT perfusion imaging in assessment of Alzheimer's disease

Introduction:Brain imaging with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron ‎emission tomography or Tc-99m hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (‎99mTc-HMPAO) SPECT is widely used for the evaluation of Alzheimer's ‎dementia (AD); we aim to assess superiority of one method over the ‎other. Methods: Twenty four patients with clinical diagnosi...
